Improved product handling

By switching to a continuous-motion wrap-around case packer, Australian Dairy Park gained a faster, more efficient packaging line with lower material costs and improved product handling. We ensured the project was delivered on time, safely, and with minimal disruption, even during COVID-19 restrictions.

“Our Meypack case packing machine has exceeded expectations. The knowledge and expertise of packing multiple can diameters, with partitions and serialisation is clear. The support from our local partner PerForm Packaging Solutions has been appreciated; both during COVID and the addition of other packing formats.”

The project

Australian Dairy Park is a manufacturer specialised in the development and packaging of infant milk powder, functional milk powder and healthy elderly milk powder formulations.

Australian Dairy Park was experiencing slow production speeds on its existing RSC (Regular Slotted Case) case packer for infant formula cans. This caused bottlenecks in packaging, limiting throughput and increasing production costs. They approached us in 2021 to help them find a faster, more efficient packaging solution.

Key requirements:

  • Higher production speed for overall better efficiency
  • Consistent quality for sensitive infant formula products

We partnered with Meypack and delivered a continuous-motion wrap-around case packer specifically designed for infant formula cans. Meypack is the global leader in high-speed packing of infant formula cans, with numerous applications globally.

The wrap-around case packer:

  • operates at speeds up to 30 cases per minute.
  • handles multiple can sizes, shapes, and formats.
  • has a partition insertion system to ensure the products are well protected throughout their supply chain journey
  • has a complete serialisation solution to ensure the unique QR codes on every can of infant formula and linked to each shipper carton.

Together with technical representatives from Australian Dairy Park, we attended a Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) to validate the performance before shipping it to Australian Dairy Park. Because of the COVID-19 restrictions at the time, we managed the entire project with our local team. From solution concept to installation, testing and commissioning.

Australian Dairy Park now has a highly efficient packaging line.

  • Reduced packaging material costs, thanks to wrap-around cases using less cardboard
  • Faster line speeds, eliminating the bottleneck from the previous RSC packer, capable of consistent operation under continuous motion
  • Less damaged products due to gentle handling
